Florence (italian Firenze) is one of the most densely inhabited and the most important economical center of Tuscany, Italy. Built on top of Florentia, its pre-roman nucleus, the city lays in the center of a valley, upon River Arno and surrounded by Careggi and Fiesole Hills in the northern part; Arcetri and Bellosguardo to the south; to the East a plain splits the city from Santiago Hills and to the West another plain stretches, towards the cities of Siena, Prato and Pistoia.
